Filming Log-Part 1
I started filming on the 18th of October which, at first is not to good as I have started later than I originally scheduled because of the problems with charging the camera.
I decided to get the main actress Danielle (Ava) and help from other peers. This was the first shot that I had filmed with the camera.I immediately recognised that lighting was a key aspect in presenting how and what the overall shot would look like, therefore I used a single soft light in order to sharpen up the image however keep that night effect on the shop. The first scene I shot was shot 37 which is the scene in the bedroom were my main character Ava has a nightmare. This involved many shots as I needed lots of angels for the editing stage and in general to make sure I have the best shot available. This scene involved me (The camera) to be at either side of the bed to I have shot to correspond with the ariel shot that reveals the most about what's happening in this scene.
The shooting overall went quite well after looking back on what I have obtained I am happy with the quality and sharpness of the footage and overall, I feel that the footage I captured will help the narrative as it's clear to see what is happening. After toying around with the lighting I found the shadows were quite effective to I collected some additional shots of the shadows in order to maybe add a creepier feel to the trailer if it needs it in the editing stage.I had know problem with the camera and am happy the footage has a flow.
However this was the first time I had filmed so the equipment was all still very much new and I did take me a while to get comfortable with it which does mean some of my shots can't be used but since that night I have gone back and did some touch up shots so that this scene is completed.I did occur a challenge when I was doing the ariel shot.As my actress was in a bed and moving around it mean't that I couldn't have the tripod therefore I did it by hand held. This shot is slightly shaky however through looking at it back it kind of adds a dramatic flare to the shot.Other than that in my opinion my first day of filming went really well.
