what do we need to find out and how?

  1. What do we want to find out from our research and why?

From our research we want to find out information on our target audiences, with regards to their movie preferences. We want to know their favourite movie genres, where they watch films and which marketing material appeals to them. This information will help us to create a film and promotional posters which will suit our target audience. Another piece of information we would like to find out is an overall opinion on our initial film idea. We are going to give a brief synopsis of our film and get an overall opinion of t from our target audience, as well as likes, dislikes and improvements that are suggested. We want to find this information out to know whether our film would be successful in the market we are targeting it out. It will also allow us to develop on our idea to create a film that uses conventions that our target audience is looking for. After creating an overall idea for a film it will then help us to create a trailer that will really appeal to the target audience.

How best can we find out the information?

To begin with this information will need to be found using primary research, in a mixture of both qualitative and quantitative forms. We are creating an online questionnaire that involves both open and closed questions, which we can then convert into data. This allows an easy way to gain the information from a wider range of participants within our target age.

How will we adapt based on our research?

After our research we will adapt by changing our original film idea in order to fit in to the likes and dislikes of our target audience. We will also be able to use the research to develop on our trailer in a way to fit with the genres the target audience likes. The research will also allow us to plan our ideas for marketing material, so that it is less time consuming later on in the process.
