In order to assure the my trailer appeals to people I will need to target it at a specific group of people.A target audience is a group of people that a creator like myself has decided to aim its marketing efforts and ultimately its merchandise at. A well-defined target audience is the first element to a marketing strategy. The target market and the marketing mix variables of product, place (distribution), promotion and price are the four elements of a marketing mix strategy that determine the success of a product in the marketplace.
I have decided to market my film at any gender with the ages of 15-25 (Late teen's-Early twenty's) audience.I have done this as through my research into the horror genre I have found that a lot of the recent horror's today have a 15 as the age classification.This almost stirs to were I should start aiming my target audience at as it means it can't just be teens in general because of the age ratings.However through further research I have found that there are not as many 18 rated horror's as the film industry just can't get the views required to sustain the film and make a profit,therefore it classify's my film as a definite 15 rated film.
Teens are quite a good group of people to target a trailer at because we are now in a new media age,where almost every teen is connected to at least one or more social media sites.This means that it's easy to market a film.Although we are not actually making a film we are making a promotional package and a lot of ways to market my trailer is to upload it to social media or have links to social media through my film promotion.
My ideal person should be someone a little bit daring and out-going as horror's are normally full of jump scares and adrenaline rushes.My ideal consumer would be someone that goes out a lot with her friends like to the dinner or the cinema.Once you have watched a horror it's like a sense of accomplishment therefore watching it with a group of friends makes a horror more of a exciting experience.
